The GY-521 module is a breakout board for InvenSense’s MPU-6050 6-Axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit). The MPU-6050 combines a 3-axis accelerometer and a 3-axis gyroscope in a single tiny chip and provides 16-Bits of resolution for each of the 6 axes. Other features include an embedded digital output temperature sensor, user programmable full scale range for both the accelerometer and gyroscope, an on-chip 1024-Byte FIFO buffer, extremely low power consumption and auxiliary I2C pins for reading data from external sensors (An external magnetometer for example).
