The ESP-01 Module is a breakout board for the Espressif ESP8266 Wifi Module with 1-MB of External Flash Memory.
The main differences between the ESP-01 and ESP-01S boards has to do with on-board LEDs. The ESP-01 board has a red power indication LED, and a second blue LED which is connected to the TX pin of the ESP8266. The ESP-01S does not have a power indication LED, but does have a blue LED which is now connected to the GPIO2 pin of the ESP8266.
