The Rd-03 from Ai Thinker is a high sensitivity 24GHz human presence sensing module designed around the Iclegend S3KM1110 chip. It operates primarily based upon the principle of FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) to detect human targets in a set space. Radar signal processing and accurate human body sensing algorithms allow a high level of sensitivity when detecting bodies that are either in motion or stationary – a big step up from your standard PIR sensors. Approximate distance to the target can also be calculated using the data received from the radar sensor. Reaching up to a maximum sensing distance of 5 meters (ceiling mounted) or 10 meters (wall mounted), this sensor is primarily used indoors to output results in real-time.
